May 10, 1902, Czortkow, Poland; To St. John, Canada on March 19, 1913, crossed into the US on March 21, 1913; Naturalized June 26, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio; Polish American; Father Samuel Eider, mother Rose Eider; Graduated from Ohio State University 1926, then Law School 1926-30; Married (wife Kate Eider); Lawyer for International Labor Defense; CP May 1935; Received Passport# 364242 on January 29, 1937 which listed his address as 12328 Brackland Avenue and 3016 ½ Folsom Street, both Cleveland, Ohio, and California (RGASPI also gives address of 3629 E 151st Street, Cleveland, OH); Sailed February 20, 1937 aboard the Ile de France; Arrived in Spain on March 10, 1937 over the mountains; Served with the Effectivos for Albacete (S1); In August to Tarrazona training with Mac-Pap Co. 1; XV BDE, Mac-Paps; After Fuentes de Ebro he worked for MAJ Crespo, Personnel Section (S1), BDE Estado Mayor; Medical; Attended OTS; Last unit XV BDE Estado Mayor, chief of the Effectivos Section (personnel); Rank Soldado; Served at Fuentes de Ebro, Teruel, Segura de los Baños, The Retreats (Belchite, Gandesa), and Ebro Offensive; In hospital Enfermeria de 35 Division for illness January 23, 1938 to January 30, 1938; Returned to the US on December 15, 1938 aboard the Paris; WWII US Army, enlisted January 1942 discharged January 1946; d. January 29, 1984, Los Angeles, California; Spoke English, German, and some Spanish.
