Excerpts of Congressional Testimony of Crawford Morgan In September 1954, the Veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (VALB) were brought before the Subversive Activities Control Board (SACB) in response to a petition by U.S. Attorney General Herbert Brownell to classify the VALB as a subversive organization. On September 15 and 16, 1954, Crawford Morgan, an African-American member of VALB, testified before the SACB.
