April 9, 1914, Rochester, New York; Jewish; Parents Herman Dickstein and Rose Dickstein, Son Ira Jay Dickstein (1946-1978); Mechanic; Received Passport# 482870 on November 1, 1937 which listed his address as 1819 Humboldt Boulevard, and 845 (815) West Harrison Street, both Chicago, Illinois; Sailed November 12, 1937 aboard the Franconia; Arrived in Spain via Massanet on November 27, 1937; Trained at Tarazona beginning December 1, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln- Washington BN, Co. 3; WIA March 14, 1938, at Caspe during an attack, hit in the leg, was in hospital for the next 8.5 months, Tarragona 2 months, Banyolas 2 months, Vich 2.5 months and Mataro 2 months; Rank Soldado; Returned to the US on December 31, 1938 aboard the President Harding; Married Sylvia Grubman (1914-1993) on October 7, 1942; d. September 29, 1969, Chicago; Cook County, Illinois.
