David Newman

Biography

k-Newman, David. CoB?, listed as Killed in action July 20, 1937, Brunete, but is also on a list of men who died when the City of Barcelona was torpedoed. RA indicates he was reported missing since May 30th by his group leader, aboard the City of Barcelona; Alternate KIA indicated July 18, 1937 Brunete

 

Pay list (June 1938) also has a David Newman, British BN, rank Soldado – likely British; Arrived in Spain April 15, 1938;  Dentist in the International Brigades hospital in Vic, Spain; In August 19, 1938, he married Josephine Liebert, Germany, who worked in technology, x-rays.  She worked in the IB hospital. [Further research to de-conflict the contradictory information is required]
