June 4, 1913, NYC; Attended Columbia University for 4 terms; Prior military experience in the form of Parochial Military School; Single; Driver and Building mechanic; American Labor Party 1936 and Spanish CP; received passport# 450877 on June 1, 1937 which listed his address as 1346 6th Avenue, NYC; Sailed June 5, 1937 aboard the Lancastria; Arrived in Spain on June 24, 1937;  Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN, MG Co. Commissar, promoted to BN Commissar briefly; Mackenzie-Papineau BN;  Served at Belchite, Fuentes de Ebro, Retreats, during the Retreats he was captured, escaped and swam the Ebro three times; Returned to the US on June 24, 1938 aboard the Washington; WWII Armed forces.
