Biography

Jacobs, George Theodore (Jacob); b. March 10, 1912, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Prior military service in the US Navy 1930-35 (US Marines); Seaman and Maritime Worker (NMU); No party affiliation; Received Passport# 359441 on December 31, 1936 which listed his address as 2959 North 6th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Sailed January 5, 1937 aboard the Champlain; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln BN, Co. 1, Section 1; WIA February 24, 1937, Jarama; Jacobs along with Jack Lenoris failed to receive the word to withdraw after the assault petered out, in the morning the two attempted to return to their lines, Jacobs was wounded and Lenoris was killed; Jacobs rejoined the BN and served at Brunete; Repatriated for failure to conform to policy; Returned to the US on October 24, 1937 aboard the Georgic; WWII US Navy, possibly aboard the USS McKean (DD784) as an S1c.
