Nolan, Joseph b. February 27, 1890, NYC; Father Peter Nolan (deceased), mother Bridget Nolan (deceased); No prior military service; High School education; Single; Clerk and Laborer; CP September 1936 (1937), unit 115, section 1, district 8, Chicago; Workers Alliance; Received Passport# 300309 on January 7, 1937 which listed his address as 1025 West Madison Street, Chicago, Illinois; Sailed January 28, 1937 aboard the Aquitania; Crossed into Spain by bus to Figueras; Arrived in Spain on February 7, 1937; Trained with the 2nd BN of Instruction, Tarazona; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln BN at Jarama and Brunete; Back to the Brigade July 16, 1938, British BN, MG Co., Rank Soldado; To hospital July 21, 1938; Returned to the US on November 5, 1938 aboard the President Roosevelt; Was working for the WPA when he volunteered; Had been unemployed from June 1931 to 1936; Was wounded at some point and was stationed at Hospital #1 in Albacete.
