Biography

Landeta Valdivia, Juan. (John; Landeta y Valdivia; Landetta); 22 years old; Cuban American; Attended Worker’s School in New York; Single; Student; Cuban CP, CPUSA 1936, unit organizer, Spanish CP (was in movement against Machado in Cuba in 1936,) and member of Anti-Imperialist organization in Cuba, briefly imprisoned; Domicile 523 W.143rd, NYC; Arrived in Spain on January 14, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln BN, Co. 1, Section 3, later Co. 2, Centuria Antonio Guiteras, Section Commissar; Later to 10th BDE “El Campesno” Estado Mayor and BN Commissar; Served at Jarama and Brunete with Lincolns; WIA at both Jarama and Brunete; In hospital #13 and #5 Madrid, Valencia, survived the war and died prior to 1989.
