Mafaldo Rossi

Biography

k-Rossi, Mafaldo. (Nello Vergani, Leone Russo, Attilio Leoni), b. December 20, 1902, Bologna, Italy, Italian American, Manager and Editor of  L'Unità Operaia, CP, headed the CP’s Italian language bureau, Domicile NYC, Sent to OTS, then to Garibaldis, Company Commander, KIA August 1937, Guadarrama, killed by artillery fire during an advance.

Additional Notes To the US in 1926.one of the leaders of the Alleanza Antifascista del Nord America (Antifascist Alliance of North America or AFANA). After its dissolution Rossi headed the Italian language bureau of the Communist party of the United States (CPUSA) and served as business manager and editor of its paper, L'Unità Operaia, as well as of the Italian Bulletin of the United Shoe and Leather Workers Union. Rossi was assigned to officer school. Given Company Command. Rossi was thirty-five years of age when he was killed by an enemy artillery barrage while leading an advance. Memorialized in an editorial in L'Unità Operaia.
