April 1, 1917, Cleveland, Ohio; Father Hyman White (1896-1959), mother Tanya "Tena” White (1898-1961), parents were early members of the CP; Single; Actor, Musician; YCL 1932 (1931), IWO, National Theater League; Received Passport# 375434 on March 16, 1937 which listed his address as 1491 Lincoln Place, Brooklyn, New York (161 Grand Street, NYC); Sailed March 27, 1937 aboard the Paris; Arrived in Spain on April 7, 1937 (April 14, 1937); Served with the Sanitario in Tarazona; To the front in December 1937, WIA Seguro de los Baños on February 14, 1938, shrapnel and sent to hospital; Later with the Mackenzie-Papineau BN, Co. 1; WIA July 26, 1938, shrapnel, in hospital at Mararo 1 month, then Caldas de Malavella for 2 months, back to Mataro 1 month, finally at Vich for 3 weeks; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia; Married Miriam Lifschitz (1916-2000) on December 15, 1939, daughters Judith and Jo Anne; Divorced 1965, married Gloria Mandels Osterberg (1929-), son Howard; WWII US Army, enlisted March 27, 1945 released July 29, 1946; d. June 18, 1983, Woodmere, Nassau County, New York, buried in New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, Suffolk County, New York.
