June 24, 1911, Baltimore, Maryland; African American; Father Edward Ross, mother Agnes Ross; Completed 1.5 years of High School; No prior military service; Single; Steelworker (Bethlehem Steel), Hospital Orderly, and Driver; CIO, CP December 1936 (1934); Domicile 3311 Weedon Avenue, Fairfield, Maryland; Sailed October 23, 1937 aboard the Champlain; Arrived in Spain via Massanet on November 5, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln Washington BN, Machine gun Company (June 1938), Practicante; May have later served with Medical services; Rank Soldado; Served at The Retreats (Belchite, Hijar, Mora de Ebro) and Ebro Offensive. Fate uncertain.
Biography:  Charles Oliver Ross was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on 24 June 1911. He was a steel worker and a hospital orderly and joined the Communist Party in 1934. Ross departed for Spain, aboard the Champlain, on October 23, 1937. Due to his medical background, Ross was attached to the Medical Service of the XVth Brigade. He served at Belchite and Gandesa during the Retreats. ~ Chris Brooks
