August 29, 1899, Cripple Creek, Colorado; Father Don Phetteplace (1874-1955), mother Virginia “Vergie” Anne (Whitney) Phetteplace (1879-1938); Attended San Bernardino Valley Junior College; Single; Surveyor, Civil engineer, and Student; CP 1933; Received Passport# 30974, San Francisco series, on August 7, 1937 which listed his address as 1335 Birch Street, San Bernardino, California; Sailed September 4, 1937 aboard the Champlain; Arrived in Spain via Massanet on September 16, 1937; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN; Rank Soldado; Killed in action March 10, 1938, Belchite, during the Retreats.
Siblings: brother Virgil Edward Phetteplace (1906-1953).
