Rogers, Robert Bruce. b. April 13, 1907, Girard, Kansas; Father Bruce Rogers (1877-?) deceased, mother Lalla Wilkison (1887-?); Self-educated; Married to Marcella Rogers, was still married in October 1940; Artist; CP February 1938, United American Artists CIO, UOPWA local 60; Received Passport# 499606 on February 24, 1938 which listed his address as 53 Irving Place, NYC; He traveled to France at some point after obtaining his passport but returned to the US on May 26, 1938 aboard the Washington; He then returned to France and Arrived in Spain via Massanet on August 24, 1938; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN; Served at Ebro Offensive in front lines from September 22-23, 1938; WIA September 23, 1938, hit in the abdomen, in hospital at Reus overnight, then Aabadell for one week and Vich for a little more than six weeks; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia; WWII US Army; Married Evelyn Axthelm (1925-2006) on October 8, 1948 in Greenwich, CT; d. November 5, 1981, Bishop, California; Likely the last arriving American volunteer to see action in the war.
