Biography

  Gotay Montalvo, Rubén (Montalvo Gotay); b. June 12, 1914, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Puerto Rican; Father Modesto Gotay, Mother Ana Luisa Montalvo, both Puerto Ricans; Attended University in Spain 1934-35, Central University of Spain; Single; Journalist and Law Student; Received Passport# 61, Barcelona series, on July 19, 1938 which listed his address as Labra Street 16, San Juan, Puerto Rico, was living in Madrid; Served with University Militia during the first months of the war; Later 100 Mixed Brigade as a combat correspondent; Returned to the US on August 4, 1938 aboard the Manhattan; Sailed for Puerto Rico on August 7, 1938 aboard the San Jacinto; WWII US Army, rank LT; d. October 23, 2000, San Juan, Puerto Rico, buried in the National Cemetery in Bayamón.
