Katzman, Samuel (Butler, Joe); b. October 28, 1911, Chicago, Illinois; Teacher; CP July 1, 1933 (quit 1935) rejoined 1937; Received Passport# 421583 on May 22, 1937 which listed his address as 1050 North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, Illinois; Arrived in Spain on March 5, 1938; Served with the XV BDE, Lincoln-Washington BN, Co. 3, as a medic; Rank Soldado; Deserted during Ebro Offensive and was imprisoned; Returned to the US on December 20, 1938 aboard the Ausonia; d. April 26, 1993, Santa Monica, California.
