Biography

Fuller, Thomas Grant b. March 6, 1900, Oswego, New York; High School education; 1.5 years ROTC, NY National Guard, Co. D, 3rd Infantry, November 3, 1919-July 31, 1920; Married; Teacher; CP, Teachers Union, Local #5 NYC; Received Passport#463446 on July 20, 1937 which listed his address as 1119 Lafayette Street, Brooklyn, New York; Sailed June 24, 1937 aboard the Britannic; Arrived in Spain via Massanet on August 6, 1937; Served with the Albacete Auto Park and later 35th Division Service Sanidad; Requested leave to return to the US in order to take a series of exams for NY School system; Attempted to desert from Taragona with a truck; Caught January 1, 1938 and jailed in Barcelona and sent to Garde Nacionale jail on January 13, 1938, had his arm broken; Returned to the US on February 26, 1938 as a work-away aboard the President Roosevelt; d. May 22, 1981, Contra Costa County, California, buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord, Contra Costa County, California; Wife Florence Elizabeth Bessie Leona Henderson Fuller, AMB nurse in Spain.
