Wojdon, Walter (Wladyslaw Wojan, Wojden); Polish American; Father Jozef Wojdan (1890-1959), mother (1890-1972); b. January 31, 1911, Illinois; US Army 9 years; Single; Decorator; Received Passport# 32865 on December 28, 1937 which listed his address as 2318 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California; Sailed January 12, 1938 aboard the Aquitania; Arrived in Figueres, Spain via Massanet on January 23, 1938; Trained at Tarazona Training base in Co. 2; Arrested on February 18, 1938 at Figueras as possible deserter along with E. Jack Hansen; M. Economides stated that they claimed to have been on their way to the front to join the Brigade by train on February 12, train stopped in a small town and they went into town to get food and missed the train; Spanish officer put them on a train to Barcelona, another Spanish officer in Barcelona put them on a train to Figueres, the men stated they were on their way to the castle to report when they were arrested, claimed they wanted to go to the front; Married Marjorie Cecilia Lane (1922-2005) February 10, 1940 in Yuma, Arizona; d. November 23, 1961.
